In recent times, this particular trek has become extremely famous among all. The trek is extremely famous in winters because of the snowfall and offers majestic views of the Himalayas, it is a 360 degree view from the summit of Kedarkantha.

Apart from this the trek also has a mythological significance. According to Hindu mythology, Kedarkantha is also known as Bal-Kedar; it was supposed to be the site of Kedarnath. It is said that when Shiva was wandering at Kedarkantha in his bull avatar, to hide from the Pandavas, the local dwellers disturbed his peace. Therefore, he fled to the present Kedarnath site.
Itinerary
- Halt at dehradun for sometime.
- We start for Sankri. It’s a 200km drive from Dehradun which takes around 6-8 hours.
- We reach by afternoon around 3pm.
- Check-in to the hotel, relax and enjoy the rest of the day.
- Briefing for the trek.
- Overnight stay in Sankri.
- Post breakfast we start the first day of the trek.
- It’s a 4km trek passing through pine and maple trees in Govind Pashu National Park.
- Juda Ka Talab as the name suggests is a high altitude alpine lake right at the beginning of the camping ground.
- Bonfire,music and overnight stay in Juda Ka Talab.
- Wake up in the laps of the Himalayas; you are bound to be astonished at the beauty of the place; especially during the sunrise (if you manage to wake up).
- Today’s trek is also an ascent throughout but it’s a small one only 2km.
- As soon as you come out of the forest and into the clearing, you will be mesmerized at the sight of the mountains. The view will stay with you till the 6th day.
- Relax and recuperate for a thrilling climb the next day, also the toughest of the days.
- Bonfire, overnight stay at the base.
- A thrilling but difficult 6km push to the summit. We start early in the morning to make sure we get to see the sun rising from behind the Himalayas.
- Every second the color changes during the sunrise which will make you emotional.
- After spending some time at the summit we descend down to Baniya Bugyal.
- Return by 3pm. Relax and enjoy the moment.
- Overnight stay in Baniya Bugyal
- Post breakfast we start our trek down to Sankri.
- The trail passes through apple orchards and several other farms.
- It’s a relaxing day; we reach sankri by 1pm. Enjoy the rest of the day.
- Overnight stay in Sankri.
- Post breakfast, check-out from the hotel to start for Dehradun.
- Reach in Dehradun by evening.
- An overnight journey to Delhi
- Accommodation. (Home stay, Camping)
- Meals while on trek (Veg.+ Egg)
- Trek equipment: Sleeping bag, mattress, tent (twin sharing), kitchen & dining tent, toilet tent, utensils, and crampon (if required)
- All necessary permits and entry fees.
- First aid medical kits, stretcher, and oxygen cylinder.
- Mountaineering qualified & professional trek Leader, Guide, and Support staff.
- Transport from Dehradun to Sankri and retorn (According to itinerary)
- Mules to carry the central luggage
- Any personal Expenses / Adventure activities
- Anything not mentioned in the itinerary
- Any kind of entry tickets/fees
- Any Meals / Drinks other than Inclusion
- 5%GST
- Carry minimum weight & Do not litter.
- Please take care of the precautions needed for the COVID-19 Pandemic.
- Alcohol and smoking are at their own risk.
- The decision of the trek leader will be final and binding. Indiscipline will not be tolerated
- Delays may occur due to weather conditions & Traffic Conditions.
- Do not wander off on your own & Please take care of your baggage.
- Please keep yourself hydrated and fuel yourself with some energy bars, protein bars, or any snacks to maintain your energy level.
- Involve yourself in some physical activities like jumping, running, stretching, as it increases the stamina and strength of the body.
Note: Normally Trekkers expects to carry your personal luggage on your own, if you wish to offload your backpack, you can give it to Mule.
Charges of offloading backpack:-
- INR 1200/- if you make an online payment, 10 days in advance
- INR 1500/- if you inform us after reaching Sankri
- The backpack cannot weigh more than 11 kgs. The backpack should have a waterproof cover. Suitcases/strollers/ bags will not be allowed.
